VEOLIA

Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) are the core technology that drives land-based salmon operations. DyneAqua has been working with Veolia, a global leader, for more than four years. Veolia ($27B Paris, FR) performs commercial-scale design and build work across a wide spectrum of industries. The largest of these is Veolia Water Technologies which accounts for more than half of their revenue.

Kruger-Kaldnes, a division of Veolia Water technologies, is a global leader in recirculating aquaculture systems for Atlantic salmon. Veolia is also an international leader in the treatment of wastewater. This is significant as water treatment represents a significant portion of the project cost. Veolia also has a Water Services group that supplies on-site personnel to monitor, manage and maintain the water quality. DyneAqua is contracting with this group to manage the water, thus allowing the DyneAqua Salmon Operations team to focus on raising fish.

It is a significant, and unique, advantage to have one partner that is an expert in RAS, wastewater treatment and water monitoring.

NEXTRUSION™

Aquafeed accounts for more than 50% of total operating costs. To buy high performing feeds at the lowest cost is the single greatest factor affecting profitability. The DyneAqua feed partner, Nextrusion, is a state-of-the-industry feed company ideally located in Hartford, SD (Q4 2021 production start anticipated). Nextrusion is also the sister company of DyneAqua. The majority ownership of both companies is the same.

This unique relationship will allow DyneAqua to buy feed less expensively than its competitors. Importantly, Nextrusion has entered into a joint venture with Alltech, a $4B global leader in livestock and aqua nutrition. They are the industry leader in the science of nutrigenomics and have successfully decoded the Atlantic salmon genome. This knowledge will facilitate the development of next-generation salmon feeds that can improve gut health, performance and the immune system. The Alltech Coppens aquaculture division has dedicated aqua R&D centers on two continents.

Our construction partner, Black & Veatch ($3B, Kansas City, KS), is the largest privately held general contractor in the US. They are experienced in commercial scale water projects, some of which they have designed and built with Veolia. The water sector is one of Black & Veatch’s core industries. In addition, Black & Veatch has identified next-generation agriculture, including aquaculture, as a strategic long-term growth area.

DyneAqua, Black & Veatch and Veolia have worked together for the past two years scoping, value-engineering, and Americanizing the design. This includes site-specific engineering, materials handling, construction techniques and timeline development.
